1 Mar 2007 - March Newsletter
Dear Parent(s),
Newsletter - March 2007
It's hard to believe we are now half way through the school year. Hopefully the better weather will soon come and the children can start to enjoy more outdoor activities. Also can I remind parents that with the warmer weather around the corner girls are not to wear trousers when we come back after the Easter holidays.
I have been asked by Ian Duckworth, Head of the Shortenills Centre in Chalfont St. Giles to mention Earth Championships. This is a summer holiday ?Activity Week? for children in the present Year 4 and Year 5. Further details are available on www.buckscc.gov.uk/shortenills go to activities then holiday. If interested please respond directly to the centre who will forward further details and booking forms.
The School Association has also asked me to mention the ?Belated Valentine?s Disco? re-arranged for Thursday 22nd March. Times etc. are displayed in the entrance area.
This half-term promises to be as busy as ever. During the week beginning 19th March each class is taking part in the ?Take-A-Picture? week. Classes will study a specific painting with activities encompassing the full range of the curriculum. There are football and netball matches to be played and, of course, the cross-country team will be participating in the District Cross-Country Event on Saturday 24th March. Year 5 are looking forward to their Victorian Day with Richard York and Hughenden Manor. M & M Productions will be performing ?The Little Princess? on Wednesday 14th March. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the School Association for offering to fund this event. Thursday 15th March also sees our ?Grandparent?s Afternoon? for the children in Reception, and of course I must not forget Red Nose Day and the Karaoke Afternoon! The School Council Blue Peter Appeal for shoes finishes next Friday. We have already met our target of 209 for baby weighing scales, so thank you to everyone for their support. Also thank you to everyone for sending in your Tesco Sport Vouchers. We have been able to purchase storage trollies, athletic equipment, a fun Caterpillar for the Infant play area along with other bits and pieces, so again thank you everyone for your support. It is now time for the blue Tesco Computer Vouchers again. Can we ask you to remember to collect yours when you go shopping and also to ask relatives and friends to collect them for you.
I would like to mention that the Governing Body are in the process of revising the School?s Admission Policy. There is a possibility that all children born between 1st September and 31st August will enter Reception in the September with the Autumn born attending full-time from the beginning of term, the Spring born attending part-time until October half-term and then becoming full-time, the Summer born attending part-time until Christmas and then full-time.
This will be a marked difference from the present policy and obviously it is still a matter of discussion. However, it may be of interest to parents of children due to enter school either this September or next September. Indeed we do still have a couple of places available for 2007/08 so please pass this on to anyone who you think may be interested.
Yours sincerely,
S. Blore
