1 Jun 2008 - June Newsletter

Dear Parent(s),

Newsletter – June 2008

Firstly an apology, the School Association’s Children’s Ball is on 13th June not 20th June.  I can also confirm, that District Sports has been moved to the evening of Monday 7th July.

Year 5 enjoyed a highly successful visit to the Isle of Wight and I was delighted to read a letter from the hotel owners commending the children on their politeness and manners.  They were a credit to themselves.  I would like to remind parents that, unless we receive a call from Ofsted, I will be away from school for the week beginning 16th June.  I am accompanying Miss Albrighton and Mrs Grace on the Year 6 residential trip to an activity centre near Southampton.

In next month’s newsletter I will be detailing the staffing structure for 2008/09.  I can confirm however that we will be fully staffed.  I would like to update you on the work of the school’s Healthy  School’s Group.  They are actively looking at issues of school travel and will soon be feeding back the results of the questionnaire which they recently issued.  The Governing Body are also looking at a number of capital projects which may also involve the School Association.  On the subject of the School Association I would like to publicly acknowledge their hard work and their support to the school.  Everyone at the school is only too aware of the terrific support given by the parents in lots of different ways.

We would like to thank parents for their support in collecting the Tesco Computer Vouchers and Sainsbury’s Active Kid Vouchers.  Can we please ask you to bring in any vouchers that you have at home, either at the bottom of handbags or on the top of the fridge, and send them into school as soon as possible as we are fast approaching the deadline for submitting them.

We know many of you are still waiting for the ‘Wriggly Nativity’ DVD and we are aware that it has been a long time coming but we have been reassured that it is now in production and should be available very soon.  We are sorry you have all had such a long wait but hopefully the finished product will be worth it.

As many of you know, the School Association Summer Ball is being held on Saturday 28th June and they are holding a raffle during the evening with many fantastic prizes, including a balloon ride, Tea for Two at Hartwell House, a meal at the Unicorn, a Lotus factory tour and many others.  Even if you are not planning to attend the Summer Ball, you can still buy raffle tickets from the school office on the mornings of 11th and 25th June.  They are also available from Catherine Rodnight or Melanie Vallance.

Lastly I have been approached by Aylesbury Honda based in

Gatehouse Road
, Aylesbury.  They are proposing to donate £100 to the school when any parent purchases a new or used vehicle from them.  I mention this in case you are thinking of changing your car in the near future.
